Careers at SBK Healthcare
Be part of our team

SBK Healthcare is a small team with different skills, strengths and responsibilities. We all work towards the same goal: delivering high-quality events that make a difference to NHS healthcare professionals. From developing conference programmes and engaging attendees to building commercial partnerships, managing event logistics and providing excellent customer service, every event relies on individuals across the business working together.

Working at SBK Healthcare can be demanding, but incredibly satisfying

We are committed to nurturing and developing our people, providing opportunities to learn, grow and take on new challenges. As part of a supportive team, you will have the opportunity to build your skills, take on real responsibility and get involved in a wide variety of work, while seeing the results of your contribution first-hand. Our continued success is built on the development and well-being of every individual, and we will support you to progress as your skills and experience grow.

Every successful event is a team effort, with each person playing an important part in the outcome. We support one another, share responsibility and work towards the same goals, while maintaining the high standards that SBK Healthcare has built its reputation on over the last 20 years.

Being a conference producer
  • Communication and interpersonal skills: You will deal with a wide variety of people every day, so professional communication is essential. Being able to listen, ask the right questions, negotiate and navigate challenges sensitively and confidently are all important qualities.
  • Research and curiosity: Research is at the heart of conference production. You will speak to potential attendees, explore different sources and develop an understanding of the issues affecting your audience. You'll then turn what you discover into relevant, informative and engaging conference programmes.
  • Time management and organisation: You will often be managing several events and priorities at once, so you will need to organise your workload, meet tight deadlines and remain calm when several things demand your attention at the same time.
  • Commercial acumen: You will need to understand your audience, what they value and what influences their decision to attend. You will also need to understand event costs and make commercially sound decisions to ensure your events are successful and profitable.
  • Creative and accurate copywriting: Producers write conference programmes and promotional copy, so you will need to write with accuracy, clarity and flair, turning your research into content that resonates with your audience.
Being an event organiser
  • Attention to detail: You will need to notice the small things while keeping sight of the bigger picture. From preparing delegate materials and building webinars to supporting speakers and completing post-event administration, accuracy matters at every stage.
  • Excellent communication skills: Organisers bring speakers, attendees, sponsors, suppliers and colleagues together to deliver an event. Clear, consistent communication in the run-up and on the day is essential.
  • Initiative and problem-solving: Live events do not always go exactly to plan, so you will need to think ahead, spot potential problems and respond calmly and quickly when something unexpected happens.
  • A positive attitude: Teamwork is essential. As well as taking responsibility for your own events, you will support colleagues when needed and contribute to a positive working environment. You will also care about delivering excellent service to speakers, attendees and sponsors.
  • Confidence with technology: Delivering face-to-face and online events involves using a range of systems and technology. You do not need to know everything from day one, but you will need to be willing to learn, troubleshoot problems and find solutions.
Delegate engagement skills
  • Excellent communication skills: Confidence on the telephone and an enjoyment of speaking to people are important in delegate engagement. You will build relationships with potential attendees, promote relevant events and gather valuable insight into what your audience needs.
  • Motivated, enthusiastic and full of energy: Delegate engagement is at the heart of what we do. Your energy and enthusiasm influence conversations with potential attendees and contribute to the atmosphere across the whole team – if you're having a good day, it influences us all!
  • Reliable and accurate: Accurate information is vital to our business. As a direct point of contact for attendees, you will need to keep records up to date, follow through on what you've agreed and be someone both customers and colleagues can rely on.
  • Multi-tasking and well organised: As a member of the delegate engagement team, you will be responsible for managing your own time and workload but also ensuring you are flexible in your office duties and be able to work under pressure as event deadlines cannot be moved.
Business development skills

·       Commercial awareness: When working in business development you need to be able to spot opportunities for repeat business, cross-selling, upselling, and long-term partnerships that contribute to sustainable revenue growth.

·       Drive and ambition: Markets, customer needs and competitors continually change, so you will need the motivation to develop your knowledge, refine your approach, seek feedback and keep improving.

·      Customer focus: Lasting commercial relationships come from understanding what customers need rather than simply selling a product or service. Listening, communicating well and building trusted relationships are central to the role.

·       Resilience: Business development can be rewarding but unpredictable. You will need to remain motivated, adaptable and productive when faced with challenges, setbacks or rejection.

·       Confidence: You will need to be comfortable approaching new customers, starting conversations and communicating with credibility. Confidence helps you develop trusted relationships and create new opportunities.
