Katie Moss is the visionary founder of Bio Moss Solutions, a pioneering force in healthcare diagnostics dedicated to transforming diagnostic accessibility and efficiency across both human and veterinary medicine. With a strong foundation as a former Biomedical Scientist, Katie transitioned into healthcare leadership roles, driving systemic transformation and directing high-impact programmes that challenge traditional approaches to diagnostics.
Throughout her career, Katie has led strategic initiatives designed to bridge gaps between laboratory processes and real-world healthcare demands. As a Transformation Leader, she has played a pivotal role in reshaping healthcare diagnostic pathways including community-based initiatives that deliver diagnostics outside the traditional boundaries. Her work influences policy, industry practices, and innovation, advocating for sustainable, cost-effective diagnostic solutions.
In addition to her entrepreneurial work, Katie has excelled as a Programme Director, overseeing large-scale projects that drive meaningful change in healthcare diagnostics. Her ability to design, implement, and manage impactful programmes has led to collaborations with leading global healthcare and technology companies. She specialises in creating strategic frameworks, fostering cross-sector partnerships, and ensuring diagnostic advancements align with practical healthcare needs.
Under Katie’s leadership, Bio Moss Solutions is at the forefront of industry discussions, championing cutting-edge diagnostic technologies, streamlined processes, and professional training initiatives. A respected thought leader, consultant, and speaker, Katie delivers actionable insights at industry events and symposiums, shaping the future of diagnostics through innovation and advocacy.
Katy has been working in the NHS and its services for 20 years in Clinical Biochemistry and Point of Care Testing (POCT). Currently employed as the Consultant Specialty lead for POCT for Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services, the service covers 5 NHS Trusts, with 6 acute medical sites and multiple community services. The service also provides a dedicated ISO accredited POCT EQA scheme, Qpoint of which Katy is the Clinical Director. At the end of 2020 Katy was seconded to the Department of Health and Social Care, then later UKHSA, Operational Supplies team as the Point of care workflow programme lead, with the primary aim of providing technical and scientific leadership in the deployment of rapid covid testing into NHS Emergency departments. In January 2024 Katy was made Chief Healthcare Scientist for Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust with responsibility for executive representation of Healthcare science services at the Trust and into the ICS.
Katy has worked alongside the national NHS England personalized care team to support the production of POCT guidance for Virtual ward and Hospital at Home services. The BSPS service provides Labkit to its partner Trusts and community Trusts, a roaming bag of POCT kit that can be used in multiple clinical services to support POCT testing for rapid decision making.
Health Protection Service Lead and Nurse Consultant, Public Health, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council
Sarah has 24 years experience in the areas of acute hospital infection prevention and control, with the last 16 years based within the Health Protection team of SMBC.
She is currently the chair of the GM Health Protection Practitioners Forum and is part of the system reform group for Health Protection under the devolution agenda along with a member of the GM AMR Board and IPC Committee.
She has recently completed a BA (Hons) Apprenticeship in Business Management in the Public Sector where she was awarded Apprentice of the Year for her work rolling out Point of Care Testing for Influenza outbreaks in Care Homes.
She is an active member of the Infection Prevention Society previously holding official roles both nationally and locally in the NW branch and has recently co authored a review of the Journal of Hospital Infection guidelines on the management of norovirus outbreaks in acute and community health and social care settings.
In 2024, Sarah was awarded the title of Queens Nurse from the Queens Institute of Community Nursing. Only available to nurses working in a community and primary care setting, originally founded in 1887 to organise the training of District Nurses via a Royal Charter but is now formal recognition of delivering and leading outstanding care in the community.
Venera Genco is the Point of Care Testing (POCT) Coordinator for Community Services at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. In her role, she supports and governs near-patient diagnostic testing conducted outside traditional laboratories, overseeing the appraisal, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of POCT devices across community care settings. Venera's responsibilities include ensuring device suitability, maintaining analytical performance, delivering training, conducting audits and supporting quality control and assurance.
By integrating community POCT pathways with Frimley Health's broader diagnostic network, Venera plays a key part in bringing diagnostic capabilities closer to patients, improving care responsiveness, and upholding clinical governance standards.
Adnan Alrefai is a POCT Technician currently supporting the development of a growing POCT service at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust, aligned with ISO 15189:2022 standards. With a background in Clinical Biochemistry (MSc) and a strong focus on digital innovation, Adnan has built governance systems, audit tools, and training frameworks to support safe, scalable POCT delivery. He is also the founder of POCTIFY Ltd, a platform advancing Point-of-Care Testing through practical tools, research, and collaboration.
